Every glance tells a story, but interpreting it has always been a challenge. Our mission was to create an app that could reveal glances into powerful narratives. Glasses Explore, our innovative solution within Tobii's Discovery Hub Platform, does just that. It converts raw eye-tracking data from Tobii Glasses 3 into first-person view, evidence-based insights and smart visualization, simplifying behavior analysis. It's not just about data; it's about stepping into your users' shoes and seeing the world as they do.
As the UX Design Manager and Team Lead, I guided a multidisciplinary team of designers collaborating closely with executives, product managers, researchers, developers, and the marketing department.
Faced with accelerated timelines, the challenge extended beyond creating and implementing Glasses Explore; but it also required simultaneously developing a new Design System to unify the entire Discovery Hub platform, spanning 7+ products. Balancing these initiatives, I ensured a seamless, simultaneous launch across all applications.
Beyond leading the team, I shaped the overall design strategy, facilitated strategic workshops, and fostered cross-functional collaboration between design, development, and research teams. I guided design sprints and ideation sessions, oversaw the implementation of the Design System, and crafted a cohesive branding and visual style for the entire product range of the Discovery Hub platform.
After extensive research involving in-depth interviews, contextual inquiries observing professionals in their work environments, comprehensive surveys, and hands-on studies with eye-tracking glasses, we found these key user insights:
Our research revealed a clear pattern: eye-tracking insights were often limited to those with technical expertise. Our big idea was to break down these barriers, much like how social media democratized content creation. By making visual attention analytics accessible to everyone, we're creating a world where understanding human behavior isn't a privilege but a right.
Building on the big idea, we identified a key challenge: making this powerful technology accessible to a wider audience without compromising accuracy or usability.
With this clear focus, we moved into the ideation phase. I led focused design sprints, integrating insights from UX designers, data scientists, and eye-tracking experts to reimagine a simpler analysis process. Together, we conducted affinity mapping, crafted user flows, and carried out usability testing.
Additionally, I facilitated brand personality workshops with our marketing team to ensure the product's communication was cohesive and resonated with our audience.
In an agile environment, I led the team through iterative design and development, utilizing two-week sprints and regular user testing. We started with low-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes, validating our core concept and identifying improvements for power users.
Recognizing the need for a cohesive Design System, I initiated its parallel development — not just for Glasses Explore but for the entire Discovery Hub platform. This ensured visual consistency and streamlined development across all products.

We've created a suite of innovative features in our eye-tracking software that directly addresses key challenges, making data more accessible and analysis more intuitive for everyone, not just technical experts. From cloud-based integration to user-friendly tagging systems, each feature is designed to boost efficiency, provide deeper insights into user behavior, and open up new research possibilities for a wider audience.
